William the Conqueror & The Pomeroys ??? *

Who knew? If you want some fascinating reading about the history of our Pomeroy family tree, settle in and click on these links.
The first one takes you to a website called "American Pomeroy Historic Genealogical Association" - this is a site that shows family connections to Eltweed Pomeroy, the first Pomeroy to come to North America about 1630. If you then search for Silas Pomeroy (born 1763/4), you can see his direct ancestry to Eltweed. Why is Silas important? Silas and Sarah Pomeroy (nee Stone) emigrated to Upper Canada (near Castleton) in about 1804/5 from Chateaugay, New York and they are my 4th great grandparents !!!

If you want to find out more about Eltweed Pomeroy and his ancestry, click on this link and you will be taken to an online publication of three volumes called - "History and Genealogy of the Pomeroy Family: Collateral Lines in Family"

This online publication about the Pomeroy family is an amazing and extensive documentation of the heritage all the way back to William the Conqueror - 1066 !! It's a lot of reading, but, the work that has been done for this publication is well worth the read.
I hope you find all this information interesting; our family lineage is quite a story, thanks to so many dedicated genealogists.
